WHY YOU NEED TO NICHE DOWN YOUR SERVICES
Most people think that the more services you offer, the better. The more options, the better. The more offers, the better.
From my experience and from what I’ve seen around the web, quite the opposite is true.
Today I’m going to tell you 5 reasons why you need to niche down your services:
1. YOU’LL GENERATE LESS OVERWHELM
Imagine landing on a website and seeing 10 offers: how are you supposed to know what’s the best one for you?
Having one to three offers will clear out all the clutter and a potential client will know immediately what they want.
So, yes, the LESS IS MORE philosophy has never been more appropriate.
2. YOU’RE GOING TO BECOME THE EXPERT
This point is crucial. As you surely have heard before, ‘jack of all trades, master of none’.
I’m sure you want to deliver a great service to your customers, but how can you really go deep when you’re trying to handle so many things?
When you focus on one main area (for me, it’s Pinterest Marketing), you become the ‘go-to person’ in that field and all your business will benefit from it.
Let’s say you’re a new mom and you need help to lose some weight.
Would you go to a general health coach or to a weight loss coach for moms?
Who do you think will help you more?
3. IT WILL BE SO MUCH EASIER TO MARKET YOUR SERVICES
When you have one main area of expertise, it’s so much easier to market your services because you have one ideal client in mind, and you can talk to her when you write your website copy, your emails and your social media posts.
No more guessing if your content and your offers will resonate.
You know your ideal client, what they’re struggling with and the solution you can give them with your clear offer.
4. IT WILL BE EASIER TO GET REFERRALS
Becoming an expert will skyrocket your possibilities to get referrals.
Let’s say you’re a brand designer.
A person may ask one of your clients: ‘Do you know someone who could help me with my new brand identity?’
If they’re happy with your work, you’ll immediately come to mind.
And you didn’t have to spend a dollar to get that new client.
5. YOU’LL BE ABLE TO SCALE FASTER
When you offer many services, you lose so much time switching from one task to the other, to one process to the other and you’re constantly busy and overwhelmed.
When you have one main area of expertise, you can systematize some parts of your business and streamline all of your processes, so you’ll be able to get more clients.
Also, becoming the expert, you’ll be able to increase your prices down the line.
