Everybody is talking about digital products and why they’re so amazing, and let’s be honest: they are! Today I’m going to tell you why you should create a digital product and why Pinterest is a wonderful place to promote it!

When you create a digital product (printable, ebook, templates) you can offer so much value and sell the same product over and over again, without having to worry about packaging, shipping expenses and all that stuff.

But first of all, stop for a second and ask yourself the most important question:

‘What does my audience want?’

Before creating anything, you need to make sure your product is going to sell, so you don’t waste your time!

  • Create a survey to ask your audience what they need (send them an email with a link to your survey, create a poll on Instagram Stories or on Facebook groups).

  • Create a minimal viable product: make something that won’t take you much time, but still has the basic features to give value to your customers.

  • Start selling it on your website and see how it goes: it’s all about trial and error!

So now that you’ve got your product, you should promote it on Pinterest!

But why? You may think. Well, here are some facts:

  1. PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR SOLUTIONS

When a person is on Pinterest, she’s looking for a product or service that can solve her problem.

For example, you might be searching for productivity hacks, and if you find someone who offers you a great planner, you’re already in the buying mindset and you’re more likely to make the purchase!

2. YOU CAN SELL PRODUCTS ON AUTOPILOT

If you set up a good funnel, you can easily make money without having to touch it again! Here’s how it works:

  • First of all you need to create your digital product (a printable, guide, ebook, video tutorial, etc.)

  • You then have to upload it on your website.

  • Create some Pinterest graphics to promote your product (pro tip: add a mock-up if you can!)

  • Upload the pins on Pinterest using keyword-rich descriptions.

  • Schedule the pins using Tailwind, so they’ll be published on your boards as well as group boards when your audience is most active.

  • Take advantage of Tailwind Tribes and share your pins with people in your niche.

So now this is the process:

  • A person looks for ‘productivity tips’ on Pinterest.

  • If you have good keywords your pin will likely pop up.

  • If you have great graphics she’ll click on it and go to your online shop.

  • If she likes your planner she’ll make the purchase!

3. THERE ARE SO MANY POSSIBILITIES TO SELL MORE

Now that you know that your digital product is selling through this funnel, experiment with new options!

Here are some examples:

  • You could drive people directly from Pinterest to a landing page where you sell your product.

  • You could also drive them to a blog post where you give value about a certain topic, and then you offer a digital product as a solution.

  • You could give them a freebie and then offer a tripwire (a low cost product on the thank you page).

  • You can experiment with various pin designs and pin descriptions.

  • If your funnel is converting well organically, you can even create a Promoted Pin Campaign! In this case you can choose between a cold audience (someone who’s not familiar with your content) and a warm audience (past website visitors or email subscribers for example).
