HOW TO AVOID THE MOST COMMON PINTEREST MISTAKES
As a Pinterest Manager, I spend most of my time on Pinterest, of course :)
I’ve seen some common threads that could be improved to optimize your results on the platform.
So here are 6 common mistakes you can avoid on Pinterest:
1. NOT HAVING A CLEAR GOAL IN MIND
You don’t want to be on Pinterest just for its sake. Even if you can (and should) have a workflow, it’s always better to know why you’re on this platform.
Do you want more brand awareness?
Or you want to increase traffic to your website to get more leads?
Are you looking for more sales?
Or to increase your affiliate income?
Having too many goals is not best way to go, just choose one main goal and that will be your focus.
2. NOT SETTING UP THE RIGHT FOUNDATIONS
Opening up a new account and hoping for traffic to come in is not the best idea.
You want to include relevant keywords in the right places, create the boards that attract your ideal client and be sure that your account is optimized for success.

3. NOT USING THE RIGHT KEYWORDS
Pinterest is a search engine and SEO is essential. Did you know that it’s actually the third largest search engine in the world after Google and YouTube?
Having the keywords that attract your ideal client is very important, so don’t skip this part!

4. NOT USING PINTEREST OPTIMIZED IMAGES
Even if you can certainly experiment with different formats, Pinterest has stated many times that images should have a 2:3 ratio. For example, they can be 1000 x 1500 pixels.
Remember to include high quality photos (either of your product or stock photos if you offer a service).
Don’t forget to include your brand colors so you develop brand awareness.
You can also add a keyword optimized text to your pin. Remember that you want to create curiosity with your pin text overlay, so pinners will be more likely to click to your website!
5. NOT CREATING NEW CONTENT
You don’t have to create new products or articles every week. Pinterest considers new content every single different image. That means that you can create multiple pins for each blog post and product and they’ll be considered ‘fresh’ by Pinterest.
Of course, remember to create new images every time you do have something new, as the Pinterest algorithm favors everything that is new and relevant.
6. NOT BEING CONSISTENT
Pinning from time to time is not the best strategy on Pinterest. So how can you be consistent on the platform to get traffic on a regular basis?
Tailwind is the solution! It’s an amazing automation tool, so you can schedule all of your pins in advance. I use it for my clients and for myself, so I make sure new pins are being published multiple times a day.
