HOW PINTEREST BECAME THE NUMBER ONE TRAFFIC SOURCE IN LESS THAN A MONTH

A PINTEREST CASE STUDY

Are you looking to increase the traffic to your website and you’ve not thought of Pinterest?

If you’re still thinking that Pinterest is only a place to share recipes and home decor, you’ve got to read on!

Today I’m going to give you a case study that shows the power of Pinterest for a blogger!

THE CLIENT

Ashley is a fitness coach for moms: she’s passionate about non-toxic living, fitness and all things motherhood. As a new blogger, she was struggling to get traffic to her website.

WHAT WE DID

Her Pinterest account was already up and running, but she wasn’t sharing content on the platform on a consistent basis. First things first, I cleaned up and optimised her profile. You can find out the process I use to clean up a Pinterest account in this blog post (fun fact: it’s my most popular blog post).

I created 2 pin designs for each blog post, I did keyword research and included relevant keywords in her profile description, her boards’ names and descriptions and obviously in the pin description.

We also used Tailwind to automate the scheduling and to make sure we posted at the times when her audience was most active.

We also applied to relevant group boards and Tailwind Tribes.

THE RESULTS WE GOT

We could consider impressions and saves, but the real objective of this strategy is to get clicks to your website!

So let’s see the click-through rate.

I started to work on her account at the end of January 2019.

You can see here that in the first 24 days of January she got 0 clicks from Pinterest, whereas in the first 24 days of February she was receiving an average of 12 daily clicks!

The best place to get data is Google Analytics, and this is where you can see that in January (1-24) Pinterest drove no traffic at all to her blog. But in February (same period), 66% of her social traffic came from Pinterest!

This is amazing considering that she’s got 9.000 followers on Instagram and only 700 on Pinterest! How can this happen? Well, Pinterest is not a social media platform and followers don’t count.

Pinterest is a search engine and people go there with something specific in mind, so you can get in front of people who’re not following you and share your content with them!

All Pinterest gurus will tell you that it takes at least 3 months to see results on Pinterest, and I agree. So if this is what you can get in a month, imagine the results you could see in 6 months or a year!

Please consider that each account is different, there are many factors to take into consideration, like your niche, when you opened your Pinterest account and how often you create new content.
