MY JOURNEY TO BECOME A PINTEREST MANAGER

Many people think that once you’ve chosen a job, you need to stick to it for the rest of your life. In this post I want to tell you my experience, which is basically the opposite of that point of view!

I’ve had many different jobs during my life and today I’m going to share with you the journey that eventually led me to work full time as a Pinterest Manager.

I was born in Italy and lived there for more than 20 years. I’ve always been passionate about travelling and getting to know other cultures, which led me to study in Spain, teach Italian in England and then work for a non-profit in Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.

Back in Spain, I studied graphic design and also started to teach English to Spanish kids. That’s what happens when you’re a multi-passionate person, there are always so many different things you want to try!

To be fair, in many moments in my life I wondered why I couldn’t stick to one path. But a few years ago I discovered this fantastic Ted Talk and found out I wasn’t alone.

I wanted to use my design skills and one day I decided to open an Etsy shop: I soon found out that it wasn’t my path and I decided to close it a few months later, but I learnt a lot on the way. As some people say, there’s no failure, only lessons to be learnt.

One of the things I noticed was how much I loved promoting my products on Pinterest and how much traffic I was getting from the platform.

I love listening to business and personal development podcasts, and I soon realised I really wanted a job where I could design, help other creative women and have the freedom to be flexible and organize my own schedule.

One day I was on Pinterest looking for ideas to be able to work from home: I found several pins about becoming a Pinterest Manager and read them all (when I’m obsessed with something, I go all in), but at that moment I was still focused on my Etsy shop.

A couple of months later, on a Sunday afternoon, I decided I wanted to go for it, and the next day, I started to design my website.

It took me a month and a half to create my packages, the branding, the social media accounts and the website, I basically built my whole business from the ground up, but I did everything on my own and I was very proud of the results!

Less than a month later, I landed my first clients and now I can say I’m living my dream job: I get to help amazing women around the world, I can use my design experience and I decide my own schedule :)

If you want to work as a Pinterest Manager, I think you should be very patient (as in every business at the beginning), have at least some basic design skills and of course you should be passionate about Pinterest and be willing to learn everything about it!
