WHY BUILDING YOUR EMAIL LIST SHOULD BE YOUR NUMBER 1 PRIORITY

You know you need to be on Instagram, but then your friend asks you why you’re not on Facebook and on Twitter and you’re wondering where you should spend your precious time on. Well, let me tell you. If you have a blog or an ecommerce, your number 1 priority should be your email list! Create it now, and if you already have it (good job!) your focus should be on nurturing and growing it day by day.

WHY?They’re not seeing an Ad they might not be interested in, they gave you permission to send them emails, so take advantage of that!

2. IT HAS AN AMAZING CONVERSION RATE

Email marketing has a 66% conversion rate! If you nurture your audience, they’ll be ready to buy when you ask them to.

3. NO ALGORITHM TO WORRY ABOUT

We all know about the algorithm changes of Facebook and Instagram. But with email marketing, you’re not depending on another platform!

4. DIRECT FEEDBACK

This is a truly amazing aspect of emails. You can send your list a survey about your service or product or simply ask a direct question and encourage them to reply. That information is GOLD because it comes directly from your audience and you’re here to serve them!

5. DIRECT CORRELATION BETWEEN EMAIL GROWTH AND REVENUE GROWTH

When you have more people in your email list, your chances to sell increase. Obvious, I know! But keep in mind that if you want your business to grow, your email list must grow as well. There’s no way around it.

SO HOW CAN YOU GROW YOUR LIST?

1. CREATE A GREAT FREEBIE

A great lead magnet is a perfect way to grow your email list, they give you their name and address, so you should give them something in return, don’t you think? Think about your ideal client’s need and craft a jaw-drop freebie, something they feel they must have!

2. SEND A WELCOME SEQUENCE

In the welcome sequence you’ll send them the freebie you promised, and then you ideally want to send them at least two more value based emails before asking for a sale (maybe with a link to a video or a blog post). Use the technique taught by Gary Vaynerchuk ‘Jab, jab, jab, right hook’, which underlines the importance of giving before asking.

3. PROMOTE YOUR FREEBIE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Show people the great freebie they can get! If you’re comfortable on video, you can make Instagram Stories and Facebook Live. At the very least, mention it in your bio and in some posts!

4. PROMOTE YOUR FREEBIE ON PINTEREST

As you know I’m a Pinterest Manager and I’m biased ;) I believe that Pinterest is a great way to promote your freebie and consequently your email list. There are 265 million active users on Pinterest and they can see your pin even if they’re not following you! Why? Because Pinterest is a search engine and therefore it works with SEO (search engine optimization).

5. CREATE CONTENT UPGRADES IN YOUR BLOG POSTS

At the end of your blog posts, you can give your audience an additional content (usually a PDF) that they’ll be able to get in exchange for their email. It should align with the content of the blog post and it can be delivered on autopilot, just as your initial freebie.

Did you enjoy this blog post? Don’t forget to pin it!
