WHAT SUCCESSFUL PINTEREST ACCOUNTS HAVE IN COMMON

Are you using Pinterest for your business? If you are, you might be wondering what success looks like on the platform.
The main goal when marketing on Pinterest is to drive traffic to your website. I’ve been helping business owners with Pinterest marketing for the past 4 years and these are the conclusions I’ve taken from my experience.
This is what successful Pinterest accounts have in common.
1. THEY ARE CLEAR ABOUT THEIR OFFER
Whether they offer a service, a course or a physical product, they are very clear on their offer, their target audience and who they’re talking to. They’re not talking to everybody, they have a very specific niche and they know how to serve them.
2. THEY CREATE USEFUL CONTENT ON A CONSISTENT BASIS
Content is essential to attract the right kind of people to your business. These people create blog posts, podcast episodes or YouTube videos on a regular basis. Some of them create content multiple times per week, others once a month, but they are consistent. Offering help for free and giving results ahead of time is the best way to earn trust from your audience, which is essential for them to become customers.
3. THEY USE KEYWORDS IN RELEVANT PLACES
Pinterest is a search engine and having the right keywords in place is essential if you want to be found. Did you know that Pinterest is the third largest search engine after Google and YouTube? Every single day, people are looking for solutions to their problems. Successful Pinterest accounts have done keyword research and they are using keywords in all relevant places:
Their profile’s name
Their profile’s description
Their boards’ names
Their boards’ descriptions
Their pins’ text overlay
Their pins’ titles
Their pins’ descriptions
4. THEY USE THEIR BRAND COLORS CONSISTENTLY
They use their brand colors and fonts to create consistency, so people can recognize them and they get brand awareness. They are consistent in the use of their brand throughout Pinterest, but also on their website, social media, and everywhere else.
5. THEY HAVE BEAUTIFUL IMAGES
If they have a product, they take their own photos, otherwise they use stock photos but in both cases they use high quality pictures to showcase their products and their expertise. This is really important because no one is going to click on a photo that doesn’t attract them.
Not too sure where to find great images and videos? I use Styled Stock Society and couldn’t be happier about their gorgeous photo selection!
6. THEY ARE CONSISTENT ON THE PLATFORM
They are pinning every single day on the platform and create Idea Pins at least once per week. Wondering how to stay consistent? Personally, I use Tailwind for my clients and for myself, and I’ve found it a great help in batching my work and staying consistent. I work on each account once per week and schedule everything out in advance, which helps me stay organized and efficient.
7. THEY INCLUDE A CALL TO ACTION IN THEIR CONTENT
When they create a new standard pin, video pin or Idea Pin, they always include a clear call to action in the description and sometimes also in the pin text overlay. Some examples are:

8. THEY USE ANALYTICS TO MAKE DECISIONS
They use analytics at least once a month to look at their numbers and be able to make informed decisions. You might want to know for example:
Which content is driving the most traffic
Which designs are getting the most engagement
How much the traffic has increased during the last month
