Have you ever thought about maximising the power of Pinterest and Instagram together? There are a few ways in which you can cross-promote your content between these two platforms in order to increase your audience!
Being a graphic designer, visual platforms are my jam. I can literally spend hours scrolling on Instagram and looking for new ideas on Pinterest. But did you know how you can leverage them to grow your traffic? Here are some ideas for you:
CLAIM YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT ON PINTEREST
First of all, make sure you already claimed your website on Pinterest.
The easiest way to claim your Instagram is on desktop: simply open your Pinterest and your Instagram on two different windows, go to Pinterest settings, Claim and select Instagram.
We do this because if a person pins your content from your Instagram, your profile picture will appear on that pin and it will be attributed to you.
2. PIN YOUR INSTAGRAM PHOTOS
Most people want to increase traffic to their websites, but if you prefer to drive people to your Instagram because that’s where you’re the most active, consider these options!
Open Instagram on your desktop, click on the photo you chose and, if you have your Tailwind extension installed, you should see it like in this case:
Do you want to know more about Tailwind? Click here to learn why I use Tailwind for my business and for my clients!
Simply click on the extension and you’ll be able to insert the caption (remember to write a keyword rich description with a call to action), select the board/s you want to pin it to and then schedule the pin!
3. CREATE PINS THAT DIRECT TO YOUR INSTAGRAM
In the previous case, your pin is square, which is fine, but as you probably know Pinterest recommends a 2:3 ratio, as vertical pins are going to be shown more on the feed.
So you can use that image to create a vertical pin, and then upload it on Pinterest or Tailwind and remember to insert the link to your Instagram post (not your Instagram profile).
4. PROMOTE YOUR PINTEREST ON INSTAGRAM
Tell your IG followers that you’re on Pinterest and they can follow you there!
You can:
-create a post telling them that you’ve created some boards that might be interesting for them.
-create a story telling them to follow you on Pinterest.
-talk about your latest blog post and if you’ve got the ‘swipe up’ feature you can link to the pin, so they can save it for later.
So here you have some ideas to use Pinterest and Instagram together to grow your audience.
