HOW PINTEREST TRIPLED A WEBSITE TRAFFIC IN A MONTH
Did you know that Pinterest can increase the traffic to your website? Many people think that only Facebook and Instagram are great for traffic generation, but today I’m going to show the power of Pinterest!

THE CLIENT
Whitney is a health coach: she helps women reverse symptoms of autoimmune disease by teaching them how to implement holistic diet and lifestyle changes. She also acts as a friend, mentor and emotional support so people feel less alone on their journeys.
When I first talked to her, I noticed how passionate she is about her mission. I asked her about her traffic referrals and she told me that Pinterest wasn’t driving any traffic to her site.
You can see here the Pinterest stats for January 2019.
THE INITIAL SITUATION
THE STRATEGY
First of all, I optimised her account following the system I explained in this blog post about cleaning up a Pinterest account.
Keeping her ideal client in mind, I moved some boards to secret, I did keyword research and added keywords in her profile name, profile description, in her board names and board description.
I then went on to create pin designs that featured her recipes and made sure to use a clear font (80% of Pinterest users are on mobile!) and to include her website address. I also used keywords in the text overlay and in the pin descriptions.
I also created some pins for her freebies, in order to grow her email list.
We also joined relevant group boards and Tailwind Tribes.
As you can see here, in the week from February 7-14, 207 people landed on her website and Pinterest drove 6.19% of her social traffic.
THE RESULTS
In the same period in March (7-14) her traffic tripled! 687 people visited her website and 65.12% of her social traffic came from Pinterest!
I started to work on her account at the end of January 2019. It usually takes three months to see results on Pinterest, but in this case we managed to TRIPLE HER TRAFFIC IN A MONTH!
If we consider her overall reach on Pinterest, you can see how it increased in this graph (in this case, we’re considering the period from February 1st to March 15th).
Of course every account is different and every niche has different requirements, but this is an example of the power of Pinterest.
Another interesting fact is that on Pinterest followers don’t matter!
She’s got 20x more followers on Instagram than Pinterest, but her number one traffic referral is Pinterest!
WHY?
Because Pinterest is a search engine, so people can find your content even if they’re not following you!
