HOW CAN PINTEREST TRENDS HELP YOUR MARKETING?

Did you know that inside Pinterest you can get great content ideas? You can find what’s trendy and what people in your audience are actually looking for, so you can create content related to those searches and increase your chances of being found on this platform and elsewhere as well.

Let’s have a look at Pinterest trends.

How to find Pinterest Trends

Go to Pinterest > Analytics > Trends

You can select your region, there are many you can choose from all over the world. For this example, I selected United States, as the majority of my audience lives there.

First you’ll see:

Trends in the United States matching your Pins

Here you’ll see some growing trends suggestions.

Growing trends your audience loves

Select your niche in the Interest section to see what comes up.

Note that this section may be blank if your audience isn’t very big. You can always use the data from the other sections, so don’t worry!

Flip through them to see if some of these trends are connected to your topics. If so, you can click on them to find out more.

This section is very useful and I use it a lot for my clients. I usually select the Interest, but you can also filter by Keyword, Age and Gender.

Search Bar

Now it’s time to use the search bar at the top.

Type in one keyword and see what comes up.

You can then check the Related Searches and click the ones you want: you’ll be able to see the difference in trends.

For example, you can see here that Summer Activities for Kids has many more searches than Preschool Summer Activities or Summer Camp Activities. Also, if you create this type of content, you may want to start publishing it between March and April, so people can find it when they’re beginning to look for it.

In this section, you’ll also find Demographics data and if you scroll down you’ll see Popular Pins related to those terms, so you get an idea of what’s working right now on Pinterest.

So how do you actually use Pinterest Trends for content planning?

  1. Find out ideas in the sections I mentioned above

  2. Compare ideas using the graphic

  3. Create content when the curve is down, but it’s about to go up.

Let’s look for example at this search, as you can see, searches related to fall start in July and are going up, so we can start creating and pinning fall content between June and July. In this way, we increase our chances to be discovered by our audience when they’re looking for ideas. If you wait until the time when the curve is up, it will probably be too late!
