DO E-COMMERCE SHOPS NEED A BLOG?

If you have an e-commerce brand, you are juggling so many moving parts of your business: production, inventory, marketing, shipping, and the list goes on…

Who’s got time for blogging?

I know, it is time consuming, but I’d like to explain here the importance of blogging the right kind of content as a part of your marketing strategy.

Content marketing is a crucial part of your business and if done right it can attract the right people to your products. Here are some reasons why you should consider blogging for your e-commerce store.

1. Blogging helps with SEO

This is true for all industries, including e-commerce. Having a good SEO strategy in place will certainly help you reach more people in the long run.

2. You create brand awareness

This is the very first step of the funnel and creating useful content for your audience is going to create awareness for your audience.

3. You find people when they’re looking for solutions to their problems

Before buying a certain product, I’ll probably type questions related to that industry. For example, I may search for ideas on how to take care of my hair, and then find an article that helps me with some tips. If they sell a great product, I’ll check it out.

Here’s an example. If you sell wall art, you may want to write about:

  • How to find the perfect piece to decorate your living room

  • How to choose the best artwork for your bedroom

  • What to consider when decorating your new house

People who are looking for this kind of content and find it useful will probably check out your products and you’ll have generated brand awareness, which is the first step to then become clients.

So now that you have a piece of content, it’s time to promote it on Pinterest! You can create standard pins and video Pins to direct people to this blog content. This is a great way to attract more people to your funnel and get them to know your brand and your products.
