HOW TO CREATE A PINTEREST BUSINESS ACCOUNT FROM SCRATCH
This page contains affiliate links which means I may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase. I only recommend tools that I use and trust.
Here’s a list of the steps you have to implement to create a business account from scratch.
1. CREATE A BUSINESS ACCOUNT
If you have a business, you should have a business account. First of all because it’s a Pinterest rule (!) and also because you’ll have access to analytics, and believe me, they’re really useful! Knowing which pins get more saves and clicks will help you loads with content creation!
Just go to Pinterest > Settings > Account Settings > Convert to a Business Account
2. KEEP IN MIND THAT KEYWORDS ARE EVERYTHING!
Think about what your audience is searching for, and then do some research to discover the best keywords for your brand. Keywords should be:
-in your Profile name
-in your Profile description
-in your board name
-in your board description
-in your pin description
-in your image file name (before you upload it)
-in the text overlay

3. CREATE RELEVANT BOARDS
When I say relevant, I don’t mean relevant for you, but for your audience! If you sell honey, but you’re also passionate about interior design, your boards should be around food, health or wellness related topics, not about design. You can absolutely have interior design boards, just keep them secret! (an amazing option)
The first one or two boards you create should be about your brand (your services/products). The others should be boards that have content that’s interesting to your audience and that fits your brand. In total you should have at least 10-12 boards, and each board should have at least 15 pins.
4. CREATE GREAT IMAGES
Pinterest is obviously a visual platform, so having great images is essential! Take your own pictures if you can or at least make sure they’re good quality photos.
The best size is the 2:3 aspect ratio. If you’re just starting out, I highly recommend Canva: you just have to go to ‘Create a Design’ and type ‘Pinterest Graphic’ and the perfect size will appear!

5. PIN YOUR OWN CONTENT
Pinterest loves fresh content. You can upload your content from Pinterest, from your website or (my favorite way) from Tailwind. I use Tailwind because it automatically detects the best times to post based on when your audience is most active on the platform.
